Police Commissioner Richard Chambers is the subject of complaints being investigated by both Police and the Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA), according to statements confirmed by officials.
State-funded media reported today that Deputy Commissioner Mike Pannett said the complaints were being handled through established processes under IPCA oversight, while Chambers said he had been informed of the investigation, strongly rejected the allegations and would fully cooperate.
Police Minister Mark Mitchell confirmed he was aware complaints had been received but declined further comment. The IPCA said it would not discuss the substance of the complaints while inquiries remain ongoing, citing fair process and natural justice.
The investigation comes amid heightened scrutiny of Police leadership following the resignation of former deputy commissioner Jevon McSkimming and a critical IPCA report into the handling of allegations against him, which previously prompted Chambers to condemn leadership failures within the organisation. Chambers became Police Commissioner in November 2024, succeeding Andrew Coster after a policing career spanning nearly three decades.
So those allegations would be? Why is this not being disclosed?
I’m guessing another pedo cop. It’s par for the course.

I am not a policeman or a lawyer. I do not know this policeman or his family and friends.
I am against any name publication without conviction.
Very serious harm has been done and the evidence has not yet been tested.
If we are to treat a person in this way, you or the ones you love might be next.
This has to end.
Oh sit down be quiet !! They happily do it to innocent new Zealanders

When you run for public office and the power and public money it entails, you must be ethically and morally above the citizens whom you represent or, in the case of the police, whom you control. The slightest suspicion of depravity should mean immediate withdrawal from your office AND cessation of public money. If convicted of any depravity, pensions should be withdrawn and if victims are involved, your assets will go to their compensation AND you must be forbidden from running for public office for the rest of your life. You alone are responsible for your good name and reputation. If you can’t keep it, then you go to the devil.
I expect that if these strictures were followed we would have hardly any men left in public office but eventually the message would get through and they would pull up their pants and get on with doing the job they are paid to do.
Bent coppers?
What a shock!
Interesting. The mainstream media goes hard on him. Perhaps he is the good guy then.
