Major backer pulls funding from ‘The Platform’ – legacy media

Sean Plunket’s independent media venture The Platform is now fully reliant on advertising, subscriptions, donations, and merchandise after its initial financial backer, the Wright Family Trust, ceased multi-million-dollar start-up funding in March, according to a report in legacy media.

Wayne Wright jnr, who now owns 75% of the company after buying out the trust’s shares, told legacy media (paywalled) the business remains “touch and go” month to month, with no additional capital injected since March.

Both Wright and Plunket acknowledged the financial pressures of the current media environment, describing the operation as “lumpy” but committed to surviving.

Amid ongoing efforts to attract subscribers, Plunket has faced criticism over a controversial social media post referencing starvation in Gaza, which Wright said may have been an ironic comment that “fell flat”. Nonetheless, Wright reiterated his support for free speech and Plunket’s editorial independence, noting no advertisers have left over past controversies and defending The Platform’s founding principles of media independence and open debate.

  1. However in the meantime the corrupt MSM continues to enjoy govt funding to enable the nations daily dose of propaganda.

    • …but the good news is as the statistics are showing- that less and less of us are consuming that fare, let alone think about consuming it…

  2. No time for The Platform. This site, RT, Greyzone, and a few others, are my “go to’s”. To my mind the best in independent journalism.

  3. Open debate. Yeah that’s Sean’s speciality. Not berating, insulting, talking over, etc.

How about you watch your pal Helen Poutasis-Harris (well, he asked vanilla questions of her and mRNA)squirm and talk word salad defending comirnaty during questions about injuries during the royal commission phase 2 Sean.(watch the long vid on bitchute by coronavirus plushie)

An ironic comment about starving Palestinians…
    What a sad individual

  4. Sean needs a rethink on his Covid jab stance. He appears pig headed when confronted with this. He’s listened to very few experts on this theme because he is too quick to shut them down.

  5. This explains a huge amount.
The Platform is clearly headed for broke so Plunket is resorting to turning cheap rhetorical tricks on Gaza, hoping to attract a certain kind of (((donor))).
Whenever you think Plunket has found the bottom, it turns out there’s a whole new basement below..
