Former Black Caps coach David Trist passes away, aged 77

Former Black Caps coach David Trist has died in Christchurch at the age of 77.

New Zealand Cricket confirmed his passing and offered condolences to his family and friends. Trist, a former Canterbury pace bowler, coached the national side from 1999 to 2001, leading them to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy.

His coaching career also included stints with Eastern Province, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Auckland.

He played 24 first-class matches for Canterbury before transitioning to coaching.
