In a match that featured what many are calling one of the most freakish tries in rugby league history from Roosters winger and rugby union convert Mark Nawaqanitawase, it was the Canterbury Bulldogs who once again stole the show with a trademark comeback, winning 28–20 at a soaked Accor Stadium.
Nawaqanitawase dazzled with a breathtaking chip-and-chase try down the touchline, earning rave reviews from commentators and fans alike, but his brilliance was overshadowed by the Bulldogs’ relentless second-half surge.
Despite trailing 14–0 at halftime and missing several key forwards, the Bulldogs clawed their way back with standout performances from Matt Burton, Bronson Xerri, and Viliame Kikau.
The Roosters’ errors and low completion rate proved costly, and while Nawaqanitawase delivered the moment of the match, the Bulldogs once again proved why they sit atop the ladder with their refusal to quit.
