British soldier arrested on rape charge in Kenya

UK armed forces news
Near Nanyuki, Kenya.

A British soldier has been arrested and questioned over an alleged rape near the British Army Training Unit Kenya (Batuk) last month, following a night out in the nearby town of Nanyuki.

The UK Ministry of Defence confirmed the arrest and said the incident is under investigation by the Defence Serious Crime Unit.

This latest case follows ongoing scrutiny of UK troops at the Batuk base, including the 2012 murder of Kenyan woman Agnes Wanjiru, allegedly involving a British soldier.

Kenyan MPs are also probing broader misconduct claims, including hit-and-runs and allegations of British soldiers abandoning children fathered with local women.
