The UK government has proposed new legislation that would make protesting outside Members of Parliament’s homes a criminal offence punishable by up to six months in prison.
Introduced under the Crime and Policing Bill, the measure aims to curb what officials call “toxic behaviour” and harassment of politicians, with Security Minister Dan Jarvis citing widespread abuse as a threat to democracy.
Protests across the country have intensified in response to public dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s policies, including a massive “Unite the Kingdom” rally in London.
Rights groups such as Amnesty International have condemned the proposal as a serious attack on the right to peaceful protest. Critics argue the move reflects a broader government crackdown on dissent, following incidents like pro-Palestinian demonstrations outside Starmer’s home and symbolic Greenpeace actions in Parliament Square.
Yes they left shoes and flags apparently, outside some politicians house. Sounds really toxic and dangerous, right? I mean someone might get a foot infection, surely? They of course, want to do something similar here.
If we can’t tell public servants we pay for we are not happy, peacefully and without threat, then they stop being public servants and become something else. Germany and Italy during the 1930’s and beyond, a cautionary tale, of unaccountably, run amok.
Frivolous
Is that the same side of the street or on the opposite side?
Can they protest outside a neighbour’s house?
Loony Left loose again!!!
Free speech is only for lefties.
Anyone else is a “dangerous radical”.
Its National looking to introduce much the same legislation here.
