Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has voiced support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for an immediate ceasefire with Russia, suggesting that both sides should halt fighting along the existing front lines.
Speaking to reporters in Washington after meeting Trump at the White House, Zelensky said, “We have to stop where we are. The president is right… both sides have to stop.”
Trump, who earlier spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, urged both leaders via his Truth Social platform to “stop the killing, and make a deal,” declaring that “enough blood has been shed.”
He suggested each side should “claim victory” and allow history to decide the rest. Moscow, however, has said any truce would require Ukrainian troop withdrawals from occupied Russian regions and a halt to Western military support, as well as recognition of Russia’s new borders and Ukraine abandoning its NATO ambitions.

Only losers want ceasefires. Winners want solid lasting peace.
