Following the tragic bus attack in Onehunga, police have ramped up visibility at transport hubs across Auckland to reassure and protect the public over the long weekend.
Acting Auckland City District Commander Sunny Patel acknowledged community concerns, and confirmed the police’s commitment to safety throughout the city’s transit areas and key public spaces.
Patel noted that Auckland’s transport system and city centres are important areas where people should feel secure.
To bolster this sense of safety, beat teams will remain actively stationed around transport hubs and public spaces.
Police are working closely with “partner agencies” to maintain a safe environment, urging the public to report any incidents to help them respond swiftly.
For incidents happening immediately, the public is advised to call 111, while non-urgent information can be shared online or by calling 105.
