Stuart Campbell Edmondson has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and attempted murder following a fatal shooting on the Coromandel Peninsula’s 309 Road last Friday afternoon.

Kevin Mabbott, 41, died from a gunshot wound, while another man was seriously injured in the incident near Coromandel town.

Edmondson, who did not seek name suppression, appeared briefly in the High Court at Hamilton, where his lawyer, Max Simpkins, confirmed plans to apply for electronically-monitored bail soon.

Edmondson was remanded in custody until a February case review, with other suppression orders still in place restricting reporting of further identifying details.

  1. So are we not going to mention that the NZ Police had been ignoring this Mr Edmonson’s pleas for help and action for 6 years as these , and other POACHERS plundered the farmer , Mr Edmonson’s free range pig stocks at their leisure. No MSM mentions that the deceased were armed and hunting pigs on Mr Edmonson’s land without permission.
The deceased are being painted as saintly victims….. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The poachers – are painted as the victim
The Farmer is painted as the criminal
The NZ Police escape proper scrutiny yet again…. and at the very least in this instance – are as usual the incompetents…!!!

  2. I wonder if he will be given a home detention sentence? It would be fair and reasonable with so many others like that.

He was a victim, targeted and terrorised. It seems the pig hunters were ritualistic and sadistic. They killed his pet pig.

On the serface this seems like vigilantism but really just isn’t, a man pushed to despair. He continually gave warning shots, firing into the air.
Then this, a step too far.

It is a bit like, ‘ ya want to see where my limits lie’ ? In all honesty the criminal, theifs have only themselves to blame.

  3. Poor buggar, let us know how we can suoprt his case?
NZ Poolice- again worst than a amabulanace at bottom of the cliff. Why do we offer them any respect?

  4. How did the Police get to know that these two scum had been shot? One of them was dead and the other one was ‘seriously wounded’, so he wouldn’t have been able to drive or run away. He wouldn’t have called 111 and announced that he had been stealing stock at gunpoint, would he? Surely the best option would have been to finish of the wounded one, then tow their car out the back and bury it together with the ferals inside it? Maybe the the farmer’s tractor wasn’t big enough, or his digger wasn’t the right type for the task? It’s a tricky one…..
