‘Pretty on the Outside’ is the second single from Allie Jean’s forthcoming debut album ‘This Drink is For the Hard Times.’
Picking up where she started with Gasoline on Fire,’ ‘Pretty’ is an upbeat anthem about something most people can relate to-making a decision which seems a good idea at the time.
If first single ‘Gasoline on Fire’ was a song about not going quietly when someone’s talking trash about you, ‘Pretty on the Outside’ is more reflective of the fact that sometimes we all make bad decisions based on superficial reasons that sometimes come back to bite us.
“I think everyone can relate to this song. We’ve all had moments in life where we’ve done something which we thought was a good idea at the time which has turned out not to be.” – Allie Jean
‘Pretty on the Outside’ features Allie Jean’s unforgettable vocals, harmonies, big guitars, driving drums and an anthemic chorus, and was the first track from the album that producer Matt Fell worked on, and here it finally sees the light of day.
Allie Jean continues to forge a new style of modern pop, country, indie rock, where its not the same songs about drinking whisky, driving pick up trucks and country life. Whilst Allie Jean is born and bred in the country, and grew up on the land, she brings those experiences to write songs about life, love, strength of character and (sometimes) confrontation- rather than singing about sitting around crying into your tequila trying to forget some guy who did you wrong.
