Logan Courtney will stand for the New Zealand Loyal Party in the Selwyn electorate.
Courtney is a father, veteran, christian and author. ‘I have been a positive change agent with Councils here and in Australia as well, working at higher levels to bring change to New Zealand.’
Courtney served with the NZDF in East Timor and was later posted to Burnham Military Camp. Courtney said he was attracted to NZ Loyal because the party talked about getting New Zealand’s sovereignty back through policies such as nationalising the Reserve Bank and overhauling the current tax system. ‘If you pay more than 50% of your income in taxation, you’re no longer a free person, or a free country, you actually are a slave,’ said Courtney in a video with leader Liz Gunn.
‘It was things like this – taking back our economy and taking back our assets that really spoke to me and pushed me to move forward with putting my hand up to stand for Selwyn.’
Courtney drew parallels between New Zealand today and East Timor during its push for independence from Indonesia, as both countries were controlled by foreign powers and entities.
