Cops and legacy media on the hunt for Pride flag thieves

The Queenstown police have released images of four men involved in the removal of around 30 Pride flags in the days leading up to the Winter Pride festival.

While the act has been labelled “deeply concerning” by festival organisers and has attracted significant media attention, many are questioning whether this minor incident warrants the level of police resources and media exposure it has received.

The men, who were caught on CCTV climbing poles to take down the flags, have yet to be identified, leaving the motivation behind their actions unknown. However, the incident has sparked a broader discussion on whether such a minor infringement justifies the police investigation and the sensationalist coverage by legacy media.

Social media has been buzzing with reactions, many of which criticise the overblown response.

One tweet sarcastically noted, “OMG! This is literal violence and genocide being carried out in NZ. The entire police force is flying into Queenstown to track down those dastardly genociders. Meanwhile, murders, rapes, and burglaries…”

Another questioned the assumption of homophobia, stating, “I doubt the motive behind the removal of neo-rainbow flags in Queenstown is ‘homophobia’ as claimed here by the Winter Pride co-organiser, but more likely that people now associate those flags with the TQ+, and the attempts to force that ideology on us.”

The tweets highlight the growing sentiment that the removal of the flags, while inconvenient and costly, does not equate to a serious crime and that police and media attention should be focused on more pressing issues.

One user even mocked the situation, saying, “#NewZealand Police top priority! Urgent 🚨 urgent 🚨 Find the stolen Pride Flags,” while another pointed out the irony of launching a fundraising page for the flags, equating it to the gravity of supporting cancer sufferers.

“A Givealittle page has been launched to raise funds to replace the flags — which were estimated to cost $400 each to produce.” Awww, missing flags are like cancer sufferers now. Because, oh the trauma to the “rainbow community”.

      • Thank you for your advice.

Just to make is clear, the last 4 letters were side.

Hoping the rain would have washed the flag sufficient to remove any disease-causing organisms.

  1. Politicised policing…we saw it during the scamdemic and now we are seeing it again…..total waste of our tax dollar, just like the latest joke of a government…..

All need to be replaced with something a LOT better.

  2. I used to be tolerant of gays. Not any more. This has gone too far and there is going to be a violent backlash. And i will applaud !!

  3. They will be used for ritual flag burning. Bring it on! We don’t submit to the globalist agenda. Take down the rainbow flag. It has nothing to do with us.

  4. From the reaction of the Police you would think they absconded with the NZ flag!
They must have mobilised the ‘Trans Inspector’ from Albert park for this one.

  5. The normal heterosexual do not get council funded parades. It is a waste of money that should be used to run the services and not humour the likes of a small minority.

Local council rates are in the extreme. This crap needs to go along with the councillors who approved it.

  6. With the trans symbol, the Rainbow flag now represents secular oppression. Many now do object to its presence, and the cops have better things to be doing. Media are usual disgrace.
