At least five houses have been destroyed on Coronation Road, in the Auckland suburb of Mangere Bridge.
Emergency services were alerted to fire at a house on Coronation Road just before 3am this morning. On arrival at the scene multiple houses were ablaze. Everyone has been accounted for at this stage.
A spokesman for the Fire and Emergency Service told legacy media there could be an asbestos risk due to the age of the buildings.
A road block is in place on Coronation Road between Walmsley Road and the Coronation Road South Western Highway onramp.
