Three water-related tragedies across the nation as summer temperatures soar.

Wenderholm Regional Park:
Emergency services are in attendance at an incident at Wenderholm Regional Park. At around 1.30pm a person was reported to be unresponsive after getting into difficulty in the water. CPR has been provided at the scene but unfortunately the person has died. The death will be referred to the Coroner.
Kai Iwi Lakes, Northland:
Shortly after 2.10pm a report was received of a drowning incident. A rescue helicopter was dispatched and a child was located unresponsive. Despite the best efforts of members of the public and then paramedics performing CPR, the child has sadly died. The death will be referred to the Coroner.
Waingaro River, Waikato:
Police confirm a 28-year-old man has died while swimming in the Waingaro River, west of Ngāruawāhia, this afternoon. Emergency services received reports just before 1.45pm of a swimmer in the river who was reported missing. Fire and Emergency had dispatched a jetski to search the river and St John Ambulance was also in attendance.
The man was located, and attempts were made to resuscitate him. However, he has sadly died at the scene.
Police are making enquires in relation to the death on behalf of the coroner, who will release their findings in due course.
