Police updates on crimes and investigations for 28 June 2024.

Fatal crash, Malaghans Road, Dalefield

Two people have died following a two-vehicle crash on Malaghans Road, Dalefield, Queenstown-Lakes District.

Emergency services were alerted about 10pm last night and located two people deceased at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a scene examination and the road reopened about midday.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Crash: Red Hills Road, Massey

Police were in attendance at a two vehicle crash on Red Hills Road in Massey Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at around 10.44am and involved a Police vehicle and a member of the public’s vehicle.

The Police vehicle was travelling at road speed at the time the incident occurred.

The member of the public’s vehicle has collided with the Police vehicle, and as a result both vehicles have sustained significant damage.

A Police officer and a social worker, travelling in the Police vehicle, have both suffered moderate injuries.

The member of the public has also suffered moderate injuries. All three were transported through to North Shore Hospital.

The crash blocked a section of Red Hills Road and traffic management was put in place between Sunnyvale Road and Nixon Road.

As standard procedure Police will be notifying the Independent Police Conduct Authority of the incident.

Fatal Crash, Boyd Road, Gordonton

One person has died following a two vehicle crash on Boyd Road near Williamson Road, Gordonton, Thursday morning.

Emergency services responded to the crash around 10:15am.

A secound person suffered serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.

The road has since reopened and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Name release – New North Road, Mt Albert crash

Police can now name the pedestrian who died in a serious crash on New North Road in Mt Albert on June 19.

He was 53-year-old Jason Dean McEwen, of Mt Albert.

‘Police’s thoughts remain with his family and friends.’

Investigations into what happened are ongoing.
