The US launched a large-scale airstrike against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, with President Donald Trump describing the attack as “decisive and powerful” in response to ongoing Houthi assaults on Red Sea shipping.
Trump accused the Houthis of engaging in “piracy, violence, and terrorism” and warned of further military action if they continued.
The strikes reportedly killed at least 15 people and caused explosions in Sanaa and Saada, the rebels’ stronghold.
The Houthis, who claim to act in support of Palestinians in Gaza, vowed retaliation, escalating an already volatile situation.
With global trade disrupted and tensions rising, the US also put Iran “on notice,” warning against further support for the rebels.
