A large anti-government protest is gathering near parliament buildings in Canberra over this weekend.
The protest comprises a number of groups, including Aboriginal protests and the trucker Freedom Convoy 2022.
Large numbers of heavily equipped police are also on the scene, with part of the protest camp cleared away today by force. Protesters fear police will stage an incident before using extreme violence to move them, with many predicting a high chance of mayhem this weekend if police use aggression against the largely peaceful crowd.
