Abidjan – Côte d’Ivoire

The bustling metropolis of Abidjan is home to some 6.5 million people and is considered the economic capital of the Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire).

Kiwis can now plan a trip to Abidjan and other ‘off-the-beaten-track’ destinations in Africa and throughout the world with the SkyTrax 2022 Airline of the Year winner Qatar Airways.

A tropical climate sees Abidjan record daily highs in the early 30s for most of the year, with daily mean temperatures in the mid-to-late 20s.

The city is located on the Gulf of Guinea, nestled among the islands and waterways of the  Ebrie Lagoon. The business centre of the city is called ‘Le Plateau’, and nearby lies the upmarket suburb of ‘Deux Plateaux’.

Abidjan has many nicknames – ‘the Manhattan of the Tropics’, ‘Small Manhattan’, or ‘the Pearl of the Lagoons’. Known for its lively night-life, Abidjan’s appeal to many is due to the fact that tourism is an under-developed industry, and exploring the city gives visitors an unforgettable authentic African experience.

Travel bookings to Abidjan and many more exciting destinations for kiwis can be made on the Qatar Airways website.
