The rugby league community is mourning the sudden death of Kath Wharton, a former Kiwi Ferns World Cup winner and NRLW Warriors player.
41-year-old Wharton is being remembered for her achievements on the field, including her role in the Kiwi Ferns’ 2008 World Cup win and her comeback to play for the Warriors in 2019 at the age of 35.
Beyond her sporting success, she was a dedicated community figure, serving on Rugby League Northland’s board and coaching at various levels.
