Agnes Keleti, a five-time Olympic gymnastics champion, has died at the age of 103.
Born in Budapest in 1921, Keleti overcame the horrors of World War II —hiding with false papers while losing family members to Auschwitz—to become one of Hungary’s greatest athletes.
She won her first Olympic gold at 31 in Helsinki 1952 and four more in Melbourne 1956, making her the oldest female gymnast to win gold and amassing 10 Olympic medals overall.
After retiring, she moved to Israel, where she raised a family and coached gymnastics.
Her life ended peacefully in Budapest shortly before her 104th birthday.
