A deadly shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, claimed the lives of a teacher and a teenage student while injuring six others.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes identified the shooter as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, known as Samantha, who opened fire during a study hall on Monday morning.
A second-grade student made a 911 call to report the attack, which was confined to one space in the building.
Police believe the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and the shooter’s family is cooperating with the investigation.
Two students remain in critical condition, while others with non-life-threatening injuries have been treated and released.
Authorities confirmed the school did not have metal detectors but followed other security protocols.
The FBI is assisting local police with the investigation.
Flags across Wisconsin have been ordered to half-staff through December 22.
