Justice of the Peace and QSM recipient Davinder Singh Rahal and his company First Trust Ltd have been ordered by the High Court to pay nearly $1 million in damages and repair costs for selling a rotting house under deceptive pretenses.
The property, located in Goodwood Heights Manukau, was known by Rahal to have significant weather-tightness issues, but he covered up these defects through cosmetic repairs without disclosing them to the buyers, Ameet Bhargav and his wife Renu. The court found that Rahal’s actions constituted misleading and deceptive conduct, particularly after an agent and a neighbour testified to the obvious signs of damage and leakage.
Justice Anne Hinton’s decision revealed that Rahal was fully aware of the property’s condition and had previously engaged in similar deceptive practices. Despite his denials and intentions to appeal, the judgment requires Rahal to compensate the Bhargavs for their four years of living in the deteriorated home, which has caused them considerable distress and financial strain. The couple told legacy media the legal battle has accumulated over $400,000 in costs while they have been forced to reside in the unhealthy environment with their young child.
Additional settlements were made with other parties involved, including the real estate agent Gurbir “Gary” Bal and a building inspection company, both of whom avoided joint liability through confidential agreements. Despite these settlements, the Bhargavs remain uncertain about receiving the full compensation due to Rahal’s recent business liquidation and the potential ‘hiding’ of his assets.

Individuals like that do not integrate into a society that was built on Western humanistic values.
Although the West had its societal tribulations and political evolution with associated dark areas and eras, immigrants from third world countries do NOT have that background, upbringing and social morals, even if bestowed with accolades, awards and medals from our local woke open- mouth breathers.
I do not suggest to keep them away, but as soon as they fail to integrate they ought to be deported. NZ has already enough on its plate to deal with political corruption and home-grown criminality. We don’t need the scum of third-world countries.
This is not the first time this immigrant has shafted people, seemingly all of them his own ilk.

These individuals have been involved in it: Vinay Mehta and his building inspection company Metsons (NZ) Ltd, Harcourts real estate agent Vivek Punj, and Justice Kiri Tahana, who set the original ruling on that fraud aside. They seem to be all part of the same rort. If not for justice Tahana, this new crime would not have occurred.
