In a letter to the Irish Guards, Catherine, The Princess of Wales apologised for her absence from the Colonel’s Review parade rehearsal.
The event, typically attended by Catherine, precedes the upcoming Trooping the Colour celebration. However, Catherine is currently taking a break from her royal duties following treatment for cancer.
In a letter signed “Colonel Catherine,” she said she was honoured to be the ceremonial leader of the Irish Guards and conveyed her hope to represent them again soon.
Catherine revealed her cancer diagnosis in March, discovered during post-operative tests after abdominal surgery in January. A Kensington Palace spokesperson recently confirmed that her return to official duties is contingent upon medical clearance.
The Princess of Wales has not participated in any official events since Christmas.
Trooping the Colour, scheduled for June 15, is a an event that marks the King’s birthday, featuring the Royal Family’s traditional appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Despite undergoing his own cancer treatment, King Charles has confirmed his participation in the event. This year, he will conduct the review seated in an Ascot Landau carriage alongside Queen Camilla, a departure from last year’s horseback inspection.
