The Māori All Blacks have pledged to honour the memory of their former teammate Connor Garden-Bachop, who tragically passed away on June 17 at the age of 25 due to a medical event.
Coach Ross Filipo told media the team mourning the unexpected loss and plans to incorporate Garden-Bachop’s memory into their season. Players named in the squad for the Japan tour are being supported, with many attending his funeral today in Christchurch.
Garden-Bachop was the son of former All Black Stephen Bachop and the late former Black Fern Sue Garden-Bachop. His death follows that of the unexpected loss of another young Māori All Black star Sean Wainui three years ago.
