Police are seeking a crucial witness in connection with the homicide of teenager Maxwel-Dee Repia in Grey Lynn last month.

While two people have been charged in relation to the fatal shooting, investigators are appealing to the public for help in identifying a sixth person who was present during the incident.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin of the Auckland City CIB stated that police have identified five individuals who were part of a group allegedly targeted by gunfire. However, the sixth person remains unidentified.

“We believe there were six people in the group that had shots fired towards them. While we’ve identified five, this last individual is still a mystery to us,” said Detective Inspector Baldwin. He added that, at this stage, police do not believe this person was injured.

During their investigation, police uncovered CCTV footage showing a black ute parked on Tuarangi Road on the night of the incident, which occurred on 5 September. Detective Inspector Baldwin said the unknown individual is believed to have come from this vehicle, although the registration number remains unknown.

“We are not seeking anyone else in connection with the homicide, but we would like to speak with this person as part of our ongoing investigation,” Baldwin said.

Police are urging the individual, or anyone who knows who they might be, to come forward. Information can be shared online or by calling 105 using the reference number 240905/8180. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.
