Police are continuing to investigate the murder of an elderly woman found dead in her Mt Pleasant home on Monday evening.
A scene examination is underway at the property, and several inquiries are in progress as the investigation remains in its early stages.
Detective Inspector Scott Anderson confirmed that the man charged with the murder was known to the victim. He appeared in court yesterday and was remanded in custody, with his next appearance scheduled for later this month.
Police are seeking information from anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the Mt Pleasant Road or Bellview Terrace area between 10 a.m. on Friday, October 4, and 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 6.
Detective Inspector Anderson reassured the community, stating that this was an isolated incident and that police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.
Police are collaborating closely with Victim Support to provide assistance to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
