Team NZ clinches third consecutive America’s Cup victory

Emirates Team New Zealand has triumphed over Ineos Britannia with a 7-2 victory to defend the America’s Cup, claiming their third consecutive title and fifth overall.

The Kiwis’ dominant performance was sealed by a 37-second win in the ninth race of the best-of-13 series off Barcelona, despite a spirited fightback from Britain, who managed two wins earlier in the competition. S

kipper Peter Burling led his team to victory, praising their perseverance throughout the week and celebrating the achievement as they towed their boat Taihoro back to port, greeted by jubilant fans.

New Zealand’s success marks the first time a team has won three consecutive America’s Cup titles since the United States in the 1980s.

Despite Ineos’ strong start in the final race, the Kiwis consistently capitalised on better wind conditions, maintaining their lead throughout.

British skipper Ben Ainslie acknowledged that the better team won, while Ineos’ Dylan Fletcher expressed optimism for the future, noting their team’s progress and vowing to return stronger in the next America’s Cup competition.
