Transgender golfer Breanna Gill, who won the 2022 Australian Women’s Classic, will be removed from the WPGA Tour of Australasia following a rule change aligning with global golf tours.
The new eligibility criteria, effective January 1, 2025, limit participation to athletes assigned female at birth or those who transitioned before puberty.
Gill is an eight-year tour member, but the policy shift mirrors moves by the LPGA and USGA to ensure “competitive fairness.”
The WPGA Board emphasised guidance from medical, scientific, and legal experts in making this decision.
