Auckland FC completed a dominant clean sweep over Wellington Phoenix in the 2024-25 season with a resounding 6-1 victory at Go Media Stadium, led by a stunning hat-trick from Neyder Moreno.
Auckland stormed to a 3-0 halftime lead before 16-year-old Luke Brooke-Smith gave Wellington a glimmer of hope with a historic goal, becoming the club’s youngest-ever scorer.
However, Moreno sealed his hat-trick after a defensive error, while Logan Rogerson and Jesse Randall added late strikes to cap off the rout. In front of a record-breaking 27,009 fans, Auckland extended their league lead to eight points, cementing their dominance in New Zealand football.
