Beckham knighted

Former England football captain David Beckham has been officially knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle for his contributions to football and British society.

Accompanied by his wife Victoria and his parents, Beckham said he was “incredibly proud” and spoke of his lifelong patriotism and admiration for the monarchy.

Dressed in a suit designed by Victoria, Beckham said the King “was quite impressed” with the outfit, inspired by the monarch’s “youthful style”.

Over his 20-year career, Beckham earned 115 England caps, played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and PSG, and helped bring the 2012 Olympics to London. Beyond sport, he has worked with UNICEF since 2005 and now serves as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation, promoting youth education and environmental awareness.
