Three people are before the courts following an assault in Mount Victoria, Wellington.

On Wednesday 9 September, Police were called to Austin Street about 11.40pm on Tuesday after two men approached a woman as she was putting rubbish bins out for collection.

The two men spoke to the woman briefly before allegedly producing weapons. The alleged offenders fled the area after neighbours came to the woman’s assistance.

The woman sustained wounds to her arm.

“Wellington Police’s Criminal Investigation Branch executed three search warrants in Wellington, Lower Hutt, and Porirua”, said Detective Senior Sergeant Timothy Leitch.

“During the searches, three men were located and were taken into custody without incident.

“Two 21-year-old men have been charged with wounding with intent to injure, presenting an item believed to be a prohibited firearm at a person, and possession of ecstasy for supply. One of the men has an additional charge of possessing cannabis and failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search.

“A 20-year-old man has been charged with accessory after the fact to wounding with intent to injure.”
