Britons facing ‘real food poverty’, supermarket giant warns

UK inflation news

Tesco’s boss says people in the UK are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

The chairman of major British supermarket Tesco, John Allan, said that many in the country are struggling with the increasing costs of food and fuel due to inflation, as quoted by The Times on Tuesday,

“I was in some [Tesco] stores on Friday and I was hearing for the first time for many years of customers saying to checkout staff ‘Stop when you get to £40, I don’t want to spend a penny over that’,” Allan said.

“I think that many of them are struggling to both be able to heat their homes and to feed their families,” he continued. “And I think we’re seeing, you know, real food poverty for the first time in a generation.”

The Tesco boss expressed hopes that the government would step in to reduce the strain on those struggling to make ends meet. Allan suggested that the government could reverse course on a planned payroll tax hike. He also called for reforming rates relief, saying that many smaller shops faced going out of business as consumers cut back on spending.

The central bank also said that the cost-of-living crisis could plunge the economy into recession this year.

It is only a matter of time, Ukranian wont have enough to eat if US pushes the proxy war further.

Note that Russia is still exporting wheat and maintaining their commitment. Russians export close 100 million tons in an year.

If Americans play it stupid, many in Europe will starve. Australia and US cannot make up 100 million tons of wheat if Russia stops exports.

Our MSM is lying to the public and not informing the reality.

  2. Greens in Germany are war mongering, and are taking the German industrial sector to hostage. It is only a matter of time, German standard of living also falls. Bore that happens, LibDems and Labour can plot on UK joining back to EU. This will be a great distraction for the peasents and the politicians in both UK and Germany wont be blamed for the falling standard of living. 🙂 French just wants EU leadership, and does not worry about much. Yellow vest is easy to handle, and all the nationalists can be called as russian agents. Long live EU idiocracy.
