Averil Drake is a teacher, naturopath, herbalist and writer. Averil lives in the backcountry of New Zealand homeschooling her 4 children. She loves to write of experiences in the bush - forging a little house on the prairie existence - hunting, keeping livestock, growing food, raising children and finding alternatives solutions to dilemmas posed by modern life. Having moved to the bush after the Christchurch Earthquakes, with a very different approach to teaching, Averil travelled New Zealand teaching knifemaking workshops with her teenage sons. Averil currently teaches food sovereignty, and foraging.
