Celebrity TV chef Ganesh Raj has announced the closure of his popular West Auckland restaurant The Tasting Shed.
Located just outside of Waimauku, The Tasting Shed was a local fixture for many years.
Raj appeared on TV in the popular series ‘Eat Well for Less.’
In a statement Raj said the effects of the Covid crisis on the business were ‘intolerable’ and that it was unable to pay its taxes, rent and operating expenses. A shareholders resolution placed company into liquidation.
‘Like many others in this industry, the impacts of the last two years on our business have taken an immense toll on the mental health of myself and my family, a key factor in making this difficult decision,’ said Raj in a statement.
The Shed was awesome! What a shame
Grand robbers money printing and wasting resources created the inflation bomb. Over valued assests result in excessive rents for small businesses. Council rates go up with overvalued assets, which are passed on to the consumer. At some stage, this game fails because inflation eats away the real value of wages, and consumers have to cut expenses, which are nonessentials such as eating out. Lockdowns created a “choke and release” effect on eateries, which absorbed losses for a while and kep them in a state of false hope. Reality is now biting on all small businesses who are going to struggle to pass on the costs to consumers. UD Fed is going to increase their interest rate and the days of cheap money will have to come to an end. We are still OK due to China exports but it cannot be a silver bullet for all the irrational monetory polices of Grand Robber.
