The body of Brazilian YouTube star Carlos Henrique Medeiros, 26, was discovered buried in the backyard of his neighbours after he was reported missing on Christmas Day.
Medeiros had failed to return home after a dinner with friends, and his family searched for him extensively. His body was found when someone noticed a mound of dirt in the house of a couple he had visited for the holidays.
The couple, Renan José, 28, and his wife Caroline Mello, 24 and pregnant, claimed that Medeiros died during a cocaine-fueled sexual encounter with Mello’s sister.
They said he had an overdose while having sex and that they buried him because they didn’t know what to do with the body. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy, and if foul play is confirmed, the couple could face homicide charges.
Medeiros had a significant online following with over 1.77 million YouTube subscribers and 86,800 Instagram followers. His family doubts the overdose story and questions why an ambulance was not called if he became seriously ill as claimed.
