The abuse took place over a period of three years, starting in 2016 when the boy was aged 13.
Timothy Schofield was found guilty of 11 charges in a UK court this week. He is the younger brother of UK television personality Phillip Schofield.
Phillip Schofield first made his name in TV in New Zealand during the early 1980s as host of the popular music programme Shazam!.
He released a statement after the verdict, which said:
‘My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected. If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family. These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.’
Timothy Schofield will be sentenced in the Bristol court on 19 May.
