21 year-old Tong Thi Tung Linh of Vung Tau Province in the south of Vietnam has admitted killing her father by lacing his drink with cyanide.
54-year-old Tong Hong Diep’s body was found by police in a pit near the family home.
Linh’s elaborate cover-up plans were revealed during an admission to the police.
Linh and her father were living together in the family home, where years of conflict and arguing took place. Linh was an only child, and it is speculated that her mother has either passed away or remarried some time ago.
The poisoning took place following an argument last week.
Linh took her father’s body and placed it in a shallow pit on the property, before covering it with concrete.
On the evening of Wednesday 19 January, she deliberately set fire to the home. When police arrived and inspected the property, they found the father’s body.
Linh originally told police criminals had come to the home, killed her father and then set fire to the house.
Linh is currently in custody awaiting sentencing in two months.
