Volkswagen plans mass layoffs and factory closures in Germany

Volkswagen is set to implement major job cuts and close several factories in Germany as part of a large-scale restructuring effort aimed at reducing expenses and enhancing profit margins, according to Works Council head Daniela Cavallo.

Addressing employees in Wolfsburg, Cavallo said management is “absolutely serious” about the plan, which she said would impact tens of thousands of workers and potentially shut three or more of the carmaker’s ten German plants. This would mark the first time the company has closed a plant in Germany in its nearly 90-year history.

The automaker is negotiating with unions regarding these changes, which include a proposed 10% pay cut and a two-year wage freeze.

Cavallo noted that the German government must take “urgent steps to prevent broader economic decline”, as Volkswagen and other firms face challenges like slower electric vehicle adoption and increased competition from Chinese automakers.

Germany’s economy is predicted to shrink for a second consecutive year, with analysts cautioning that the nation could face a prolonged economic downturn, potentially making this decade a “lost” one for German industry.

    • The USA/ UK never liked to see a strong economy in Germany. WOII was meant to destroy completely Germany ‘ s economy that was , previous decaration of WOII, already under siege of world’s jewish boycott. Initiated by international jewish bankers

Now, the German ecologists ( the ” green”) completely sabotaged, through the EU the French cheap nuclear energy ( kill competition)- that had to be replaced by ” clean” solar pannels and wind turbines. This in combination of NorthStream2 destruction, the “sanctions” against Russia benefitting only the US have driven the price of energy in europe to hights never seen. Results are terrible inflation followed by closure/ bankrupcy of many factories, small business etc.
Banks weakened by te 2008 financial crisis get further into trouble because loans cannot be re imbursed
The whole EU has been mis managed under the influence and for the benefit of the USA .
Thanks to corrupt or incompetent “elected” politicians .
The whole system is breaking down now. It is just te beginning

  1. German Volkswagens are not designed to look good. German thinking seems to exclude the concept of anything elegant or pleasing to the eye, except the top end Porsches, because the Untermenschen must not be allowed to have a nice visual experience.
