Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an associate of missing Hutt Valley man Tom Basire, as concerns for his wellbeing continue to grow.
Basire, 28, has not been seen for over two months.
He was last spotted on November 24, 2024, walking towards Petone on the stop bank near Ewen Bridge on Railway Ave. At the time, he was wearing the clothing shown in police-issued images.
Police believe that Basire would occasionally visit an associate living in Petone, though no further details about this person are known. Police are urging anyone who may have information about this associate to come forward.
Last week, police search and rescue teams conducted a search along the Hutt River and its riverbanks but found no items of interest. However, footage captured during the search is still being analysed.
Police say it is highly unusual for Basire to have no contact with his family, particularly as he missed celebrating his birthday in December.
Anyone with information about Basire’s whereabouts or details regarding his associate in the Petone area is urged to contact police online or call 105, quoting reference number 241213/6143.
