The Australian-born activist is expected to strike a plea deal with the US Department of Justice, court documents say.
WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange has been released from a UK prison on Tuesday morning, his team has said. He has spent five years in the Belmarsh Prison in London while fighting extradition to the US, where he was indicted on 18 counts of disseminating classified information.
According to the newly filed court documents, Assange will strike a plea deal in order to avoid further jail time.
“Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there,” WikiLeaks wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the UK.”
WikiLeaks said that the international campaign to free Assange has “the space for a long period of negotiations with the US Department of Justice, leading to a deal that has not yet been formally finalized.”
“As he returns to Australia, we thank all who stood by us, fought for us, and remained utterly committed in the fight for his freedom,” WikiLeaks wrote.

According to a letter from the DOJ, Assange will appear in court in Sapian, in the Northern Mariana Islands, a US territory in the Pacific, at 9 am local time on Wednesday. “We anticipate that the defendant will plead guilty to the charge… of conspiring to unlawfully obtain and disseminate classified information relating to the national defense of the United States,” the letter said.
I guess you had to be there and witness the news and footage leaking of assassination attempts prior to raid on the embassy compound and at the same time the dead mans switch being activated for assange and then followed by most of his team vanishing within those few days( some dead) and then after a while, a deepfake( yes back then also) assange was addressing the world that he is fine…the software glitch gave it away…..

Gosh that’s a bit nasty. He’s been sitting in a 2 X 3 cell for nigh on 5 years probably been fed macaroni cheese fried chips, sausages and fizzy drink and you expect him to look like he’s buff? Seriously? And before that he was stuck in a building for a further – what – 5 years…..do you expect him to look like an iron man??? The fact he’s still alive after what he’s been through is a miracle! Thank heavens he has a wife and children -what joy in his otherwise joyless last decade and I pray to God he can live a safe life from here on forwards.

If it GENUINELY is him, then I share your well wishes. But there ARE some legitimate questions around all the secretive things that transpired over the past few years. Will have to wait until he gives an official statement or speech and I’ll make my mind up then.

From Australia, he needs to be spirited OUT of Oz, along with The Aussie Cossack, and flown to Russia where Political Asylum would probably be granted to Assange, and he needs to do this BEFORE any more lawfare is pulled out of the bag of legal tricks by the U.S. Department of J3wstice.
Assange could be arrested on U.S. Territory, and then flown back to the U.S. from Saipan on a Secret Court Order / Warrant via the secretive ‘Star Court’.
