Crown’s appeal against rapist Jayden Meyer home detention sentence dismissed

Jayden Meyers appeall news

Meyer was sentenced earlier this year to 9 months home detention for the rape of four teenage girls.

Meyer was 16 at the time of the offending.

In a decision released today Justice Sally Fitzgerald agreed that the sentence was ‘manifestly inadequate’, but that in ‘the unique circumstances of this case’ it would not be in the interests of justice to allow appeal.

She criticised the sentencing process as lacking in transparency and this would undermine the public’s confidence in the justice system. She also said sentencing judge Christopher Harding’s process in determining the final sentence was unorthodox.

In reaching her decision Justice Fitzgerald said that an important factor was the fact Meyer had already served a third of his sentence and had made significant progress in a youth sexual offending programme.

  1. ‘Meyer has made significant progress in a youth sexual offending programme. ‘
But, but Justice Fitzgerald – isn’t that what got him into trouble in the first place?

  2. I wonder who he is connected to, in order to get ‘Kid Glove’ treatment?
    Maybe Dad is a…Freemason????
Or; an Grammar School Old Boy???
& the Kiwi Girls are treated as property chattel that is reflective of the colonial / provincial mindset and the societal caste system here, while the Stuff MSM complains about the treatment of Iranian girls & women…
    What hypocrisy!!!

  3. So the government won’t enforce justice?

Cool, I guess the people will in that case.

Watch this space, and prepare to be not surprised in the least by what happens to him.
