Long-serving Labour MP David Parker has announced he will step down from Parliament in May after over two decades.
First elected in 2002, Parker has held numerous key ministerial portfolios, including Attorney General, Environment, Trade, and Revenue.
He played a pivotal role in implementing the ‘climate change’ centred Emissions Trading Scheme and overhauling the Resource Management Act, and was instrumental in trade agreements like the CPTPP and PACER Plus.
A former Deputy Leader of Labour, Parker cited his desire to “return to the private sector”. He plans to give his valedictory speech in May.
GOOD RIDDANCE: DAVID PARKER QUITS POLITICS
After 23 years on the taxpayer payroll, Labour’s David Parker is finally calling it quits. A career politician to the core, Parker is case and point for why New Zealand desperately needs term limits — so we’re not stuck with… pic.twitter.com/IN3WlAsP3F

Nothing will change, until people stop voting mainstream……
Fully agree Brian with your sentiments. Good riddance Parker.
Just another 122 to get rid of and then we might start to get somewhere.
Yep, good riddance. Nothing more to say………
The John Denver look-a-like knows that something BIG is on the horizon, (war, economic hyperinflation and then collapse, and failing businesses). and he doesn’t want to be there when it happens.
What did those in the Wasp Nest do to prep for these possibilities?
Nothing…despite many suggestions being made and submitted to the public.
