Melbourne Storm overwhelmed the NZ Warriors with a ruthless first-half performance, securing a 42-14 victory at AAMI Park and extending their decade-long winning streak over the Auckland-based side to 17 games.
Xavier Coates starred again with two tries, as the Storm raced to a 36-0 halftime lead. The Warriors’ woes included injuries to co-captain James Fisher-Harris and a sin-binning for Jackson Ford, which led to three tries during his absence.
Though Melbourne eased off in the second half, allowing the Warriors to score three late tries, the damage was done. The Warriors now sit sixth on the table ahead of next week’s clash with Brisbane.
