Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, 79, has been arrested and flown to The Hague after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant accusing him of “crimes against humanity” over his brutal war on drugs.
Duterte was taken into custody upon arriving in Manila from Hong Kong and quickly placed on a chartered jet to the Netherlands.
Current President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed the government’s cooperation with Interpol, stating it was fulfilling its international obligations.
Duterte’s daughter and Vice President, Sara Duterte, condemned the arrest as political persecution.
The former leader, who oversaw thousands of alleged extrajudicial killings during his anti-drug campaign, insists he should only be tried in Philippine courts and has petitioned the Supreme Court to contest the ICC’s jurisdiction.
Duterte’s arrest has sparked both protests and praise, with supporters decrying the move while human rights activists hail it as a step toward justice for victims of his drug war.
Analysts see his detention as a turning point in Philippine politics, marking the breakdown of the Duterte-Marcos alliance.
Duterte remains popular among many Filipinos, especially in his home region of Mindanao, where he built his political career. His policies aligned the Philippines closer to China, a stance reversed by Marcos, who has since restored ties with the U.S.
However much a monster he may be, I agree with him in principle.
He should be tried in his own country under his own laws. No more of this international court/ one-world-government globalism nonsense.
Hope bibi is next on a plane to be procecuted.
But I bet they will not. It’s all a huge political farce.
Let’s see is bibi is held accountable by the same country and courts .
He is on the same list
Meanwhile here in NZ Chris Hipkins tops the evil retarded Maoist popularity contest.
Utterly despicable act by the two faced ICC. The same ICC who have made NO effort whatsoever, to go after genuine war criminals, in the likes of the USA, UK, Germany, France and elsewhere. So instead, they resort to neo colonialism, no doubt at the behest of the USA. The USA hated Duterte because he wouldn’t give them everything they wanted. Moreover, he was genuinely out for his own people coming down hard on drug traffickers (wonder who took a share of those profits, maybe the ICC would like to investigate that?). This is in sharp contrast to the current administration, who has every reason to do as they are told by Uncle Ham (below).

I remember being in the P.I. during the Vietnam War and post- ‘Nam when Marcos was in power.
He dealt with the SUSPECTED and CONFIRMED insurgents by sending death squads around to public places and machine-gunning the suspects down w/o a trial or proof.
One learned to sit facing the entrances to bars, restaurants, etc. in the back areas of such places.
Duerte just picked-up on the Modus and used the same this time to deal with suspected the drug dealers and their cartels.
In the meantime, Marcos Jr. is too pre-occupied with Chinese incursions in coastal waters and airspace to mimmick the same.
The PTB seem to be going after those it opposes on a global scale; Duerte, Bolsonaro, Al-Assad, etc.
