The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has commissioned an independent audit of police breath-testing data after revelations that about 30,000 tests were falsely or incorrectly recorded, triggering investigations into roughly 130 police staff nationwide.

Following reporting by state media, NZTA paused around $6 million in delivery-linked road-policing funding while it seeks assurance the data is accurate.

Briefings to Transport Minister Chris Bishop show existing algorithms can detect tests conducted while devices were moving but struggle to identify irregular testing when officers were stationary, raising concerns more issues may exist.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Mike Johnson acknowledged these limits, while NZTA says the independent analysis is under way and expected to report early next year, with final verification of results anticipated in early 2026 as Police continue high-visibility breath-testing operations.

  1. This has to be called what it is: state terrorism.
Terrorizing law abiding citizens cannot be excused as a ‘safety’ measure.
Now, with extended alc and drug tests, travelers are hindered in their lawful procession or having to abandon driving for a day in case one refutes the test, facing a $ 400 fine. Driver impairment tests ought to be the central mechanism in which a test is conducted, not herding perfectly lawful drivers, including passengers, to the side of the road and kidnapping them for up to half an hour!
This is not concern for the safety of the citizenry.
This is fear imposition and revenue gathering!
    So what can be done?
    Resist
    Defy
    Do not comply.

    • Government department A has audited government department B and determined that the government has done no wrong and is wonderful.

This is backed up by seperate studies through various universities and NGO’s who we give lots of tax money to.

      Rest assured, citizen 😉

  2. Another “quality” globalist government organisation…..sitting side by side, with NZ’s third world healthcare and its secular cult of wokism, edumikation system………

  3. If You do get pulled up be sure to mention the architect of the universe
And stand with Your feet pointed outwards
It could be Your lucky day
