Luxon insists caucus backing holds

National Caucus meeting 21 April 2026

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says he has full caucus support as National MPs return to Wellington after nearly three weeks.

This comes after weak polling and reports of internal concern.

Speaking to media, Luxon denied avoiding chief whip Stuart Smith and said no issues were raised directly. He insisted he speaks regularly with MPs and retains their confidence.

Senior ministers publicly backed him on arrival for a Cabinet meeting.

Luxon downplayed talk of unrest, saying only a small number were frustrated, before softening that claim. He remains confident he will stay prime minister. He said the government is focused on strong economic management. He expects frank discussions at caucus but says the party remains unified.

  1. Luxon, people are the poorest they have been for a long time. They see you as a hard nose asshole who doesn’t give a toss about the well-being of the average citizen. They have no faith in your ability to get things right.

The early indication was the massive exit of New Zealanders to Australia. Except for people owning property and property investments, people have departed.

NZ is an unstable environment for business. Consumers have drastically reduced. Compliance is still extremely high. Tax, also called levies, fees, licensing costs, rates, gst, provisional tax, exercise tax and just so many other names to remove money from our spending power is the reason why the economy has crashed.

Wellington highways are a lonely place to be after 7pm.

Luxon may have the MP numbers, but he no longer has the public numbers. If necessary, drag Luxon from his seat. Get him out.

Our focus should be on making it worthwhile to live and work in NZ. To get ahead.

It is not just business. This complete nonsense of owning half a partners belongings in after such a short period has to go. NZ birthrate isn’t anywhere near replacement.

Redistribution of wealth based on race has danger, destruction and bankruptcy written all over it.
