Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown has officially launched his re-election campaign, announcing his bid at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron today.
The 78-year-old, who has led the supercity since October 2022, outlined his achievements in tackling major issues and driving efficiency within Auckland Council.
Brown pledged to continue focusing on delivering value for ratepayers and ensuring accountability in council spending.
While he remains an independent candidate, speculation surrounds a potential challenge from his deputy, Desley Simpson, after a campaign domain was registered in her name.
So far, Auckland councillor Kerrin Leoni is the only confirmed candidate running against him.
