French Polynesia’s Minister of Major Works, Equipment, and Land and Maritime Transport, Jordy Chan, has announced upcoming roadworks that will affect traffic along the RT2 at PK 17.660 in the Papeno’o municipality, beginning Friday, November 28.
The works are expected to last approximately one week and will require alternating one-way traffic to ensure safety for motorists. Traffic controls will begin nightly from November 28 to December 2, operating between 7pm and 4am. From Tuesday, December 2 at 7pm, the alternating flow will continue uninterrupted until Thursday, December 4 at 10pm.
Officials cautioned that the schedule may shift if weather conditions are unfavourable, with work potentially postponed until safe conditions return.
Construction signage will be installed and maintained for the duration of the project, and the ministry emphasised that all measures are being taken to restore normal traffic as soon as possible.
Motorists travelling through the area are asked to drive with extra caution while the works are underway.
Minister Chan thanked road users for their patience and understanding while the essential maintenance is completed.
