Government agents aided the activist’s killers and then covered up their involvement, his daughters have claimed.
Three of Malcolm X’s daughters have filed a lawsuit against the CIA, FBI, and New York Police Department, accusing the agencies of complicity in the assassination of the militant black activist.
Filed in a Manhattan court on Friday, the suit alleges that the CIA, FBI, and NYPD were aware of a plot to kill Malcolm X, but did not act to stop it. It claims that the NYPD arrested his security detail days before the assassination, while the CIA and FBI’s undercover agents – who were present on the night of the fatal shooting – stood by while the militant leader was gunned down.
The lawsuit alleges that there was a “corrupt, unlawful, and unconstitutional” relationship between the agencies and “ruthless killers that went unchecked for many years and was actively concealed, condoned, protected, and facilitated by government agents.”
“We believe that they all conspired to assassinate Malcolm X, one of the greatest thought leaders of the 20th century,” civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing the family, said at a press conference on Friday.
The agencies covered up their involvement in the killing for decades, “blocking the Shabazz family’s access to the truth and their right to pursue justice,” Crump claimed.
Malcolm X rose to prominence as the national spokesman of the Nation of Islam (NOI), a black Muslim sect that considers white people “devils” and advocates racial segregation. He adopted the name el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz during his time with the NOI, although he broke ties with the group in the early 1960s.
Malcolm X was shot dead as he prepared to deliver a speech in a New York ballroom in 1965. His murder was initially pinned on three members of the NOI – Muhammad Abdul Aziz, Khalil Islam, and Thomas Hagan – who were all charged, tried, and convicted for the killing.
After spending over 20 years in prison, in November 2021, Aziz and Islam were exonerated and awarded $36 million for wrongful convictions. That was after the Manhattan district attorney’s offices discovered that prosecutors and the FBI had withheld key evidence that would have acquitted the two men.
Unlike Martin Luther King, who campaigned for racial integration in the US, Malcolm X advocated for the complete separation of whites and blacks. He argued that black Americans deserved reparations and their own independent state in the southern US, and called on his followers to use violence to achieve this goal if necessary, although he later toned down his rhetoric and cooperated with other civil rights organizations.
His segregationist beliefs brought him into a loose alliance with the Ku Klux Klan, which called for segregation from the other side of the US’ racial divide. Malcolm X also famously met with American Nazi Party leader George Lincoln Rockwell, who said that he was “fully in concert with [the NOI’s] program” of racial separation.
Police have arrested a man after several boats were interfered with at Taupō marina this morning, prompting an appeal to boaties to contact Police if their vessel has been tampered with.
Officers were called about 9am, after a boat owner found his vessel untied. It appears several boats were interfered with and as Police made enquiries, they were alerted to a potential suspect being located by Coastguard Lake Taupō volunteers.
Uninterested in speaking with Police, the man dived into the water, crossing to the Nukuhau side of the Waikato River. He entered the river again and swam back to the Taupō side.
After emerging from the water, the individual climbed a tree, then informed the officers below that he was stuck.
Fire and Emergency NZ and an ambulance were called as a precaution, with firefighters assisting with the man’s extraction from the thin branch on which he had perched.
He was taken into custody and is being spoken to about the events.
Police ask that boaties in the area report any instances where their vessels have been interfered with. If you have any information that could help our enquiries, please update us online now or call 105.
France extended their winning streak over the All Blacks to three games in a tightly match in Paris.
Despite early dominance from Scott Robertson’s All Blacks, including Peter Lakai’s first international try and Cam Roigard’s score, France clawed back with standout performances from debutant Romain Buros, a maul try by Paul Boudehent, and Louis Bielle-Biarrey’s electrifying ninth international try.
Fly-halves Thomas Ramos and Damian McKenzie traded penalties in a kicking duel, with Ramos’ 15-point haul proving decisive.
For West Papuans, the ghost of Suharto has returned; the New Order regime still exists, it has just changed its clothes. It is gravely disappointing that the UK government has signed a ‘critical minerals’ deal with Indonesia, which will likely cover West Papua’s nickel reserves in Tabi and Raja Ampat. The UK must understand: there can be no real ‘green deal’ with Indonesia while they are destroying the third largest rainforest on earth. I was very glad to see five members of the House of Lords – Lords Harries, Purvis, Gold, Lexden, and Baroness Bennett – hold the government to account on the issues of self-determination, ecocide, and the long-delayed UN visit. We need this kind of scrutiny from our Parliamentary supporters more than ever now.
Prabowo will also be visiting Oxford Library as part of his diplomatic visit. Why Oxford? The answer is clearly because the peaceful Free West Papua Campaign is based here; because the Town Hall flies our national flag every December 1st; because I have been given Freedom of the City, along with other independence leaders like Nelson Mandela.
This visit is not an isolated incident: there was the recent cultural promotion in Oxford Town Centre, addressed by the Indonesian ambassador in an Oxford United scarf. There was the takeover of Oxford United by Anindya Bakrie, one of Indonesia’s richest men, and Erick Thohir, an Indonesian government minister. This is not about business – it is a targeted campaign to undermine West Papua’s international connections. The Indonesian Embassy has sponsored the Cowley Road Carnival and attempted to ban displays of the Morning Star, our national flag. They have called a bomb threat in on our office and lobbied to have my Freedom of the City award revoked. Indonesia is using every dirty trick they have in order to destroy my connection with this city.
Indonesia is a poor country, and due to six decades of colonialism West Papua is its poorest province. There are giant slums in Jakarta, with homeless people sleeping under bridges. So why are they pouring money into Oxford, one of the wealthiest cities in Europe?
The UK has been my home ever since I escaped an Indonesian prison in the early 2000s. My family and I have been welcomed here, and it will continue to be our home until my country is free and we can return to West Papua.
I hope the government will stand up for human rights and a habitable planet by cancelling its reception of Prabowo.
I recently joined Anna McLoughlin from NZDSOS, on ‘The Fourth Estate’ – a Reality Check Radio show with host Marty Gibson.
The title of this show is a bit of a mouthful…
“THE FOURTH ESTATE: Bill Gates’ Lawsuit Loss, Newsguard’s Narrative Management, Candace Owens’ Cancellation, The US Election Under Scrutiny, The Heavy Cost Of NZ’s Media’s Lopsided Climate Change Reporting & More” – listen here.
Join host Marty Gibson, Anna McLoughlin, and myself as we discuss some hot topics, the media’s response and responsibilities, and our insights, along with some evidence (it’s a 60 minute listen).
Who is the ‘Fourth Estate’?
“The term ‘fourth estate’ is used to describe the press. Describing journalists and the news outlets for which they work as members of the fourth estate is an acknowledgment of their influence and status among the greatest powers of a nation, the author William Safire once wrote:
In England, the three estates preceding the fourth estate were the king, the clergy and the commoners.
In the United States, the term fourth estate is sometimes used to place the press alongside the three branches of government: legislative, executive and judicial.
The ‘fourth estate’ refers to the watchdog role of the press, one that is important to a functioning democracy.” – Source: ThoughtCo.com
I have seen in NZ a high school lesson that describes media as the ‘watchdog’ of the government, that it will hold them in check on behalf of the people. But IS IT doing this most important of roles? And if not… WHO IS?
If you are like me – one of the many fledgling or emerging voices out there in the midst of this information war you’ll know that it’s hotting up, and fast.
If you’re a consumer of free-thinking independent media, you’ll probably be in overwhelm!
The popularity of the recent story by Erica Krikke and myself on the Bill Gates case in the Netherlands, gave us first-hand experience of social/alternative media frenzy, in ways we could never have conceived. I share a little about this experience on the RCR interview.
The article that caught worldwide attention is here.
And the follow-up story here, after many news outlets (it seems to have started with RFK Jnr) are now saying that Gates has been ‘indicted’ in the Netherlands (he hasn’t):
Does Robert F Kennedy Jnr make an error?
It really is the wild wild west of media
I am slower to trust than ever. My ‘bullish*t sensor’ is working overtime. Today I was sent the one minute clip below. The Gates story, further embellished… This time it’s coming from Naomi Wolf, on Russell Brand’s show see at 16:20.
Naomi makes four incorrect statements in under a minute, as Brand nods happily on. This is more than a small error (which I hope is what happened when RFK announced that Gates had been indicted in this case – perhaps a staffer misread ‘incident’ for ‘indictment’ in our original post or the Children’s Health Defense follow-up)?
UNTRUE: The Netherlands Government is bringing Gates in for trial. TRUE: 7 members of the public are bringing the trial. The State of the Netherlands is in fact one of the defendants!
UNTRUE: Gates has been subpoenaed for criminal activity. TRUE: This is a civil case, not a criminal case, so the words here appear sensationalist.
UNTRUE: In relation to pushing the covid vaccine. TRUE: It’s more than that. He and 16 other defendants are up on claims of implementing the Great Reset.
UNTRUE: He’s going to be held accountable in Britain. TRUE: This case is in the Netherlands. Nothing to do with Britain.
On top of these incorrect statements, Naomi then quotes a Dr King, stating “…the arc of justice bends slowly…” and then says she’s not getting the quote exactly right. Ironic?
This shows that neither of them read the court report, nor the articles from us or Children’s Health Defense. And shows that they are clearly not going to the source. Which is, actually, appalling.
They appear to have taken other people’s (embellished) stories, and embellished them further.
My genuine concern with this type of reporting is that it may jeapordise this important case. I sincerely hope not.
I don’t have anything against Naomi or Russell. I simply believe that if the fourth estate is to be re-established it must be done with the utmost journalistic integrity.
Integrity, trust, and relationship building
Erica, my dear friend and fellow independent reporter in the Netherlands, has been following this case for months. On the recent judge’s ruling that the Dutch court has jurisdiction to bring Gates to trial, we collaborated to bring this to Substack, and in doing so, a wider English speaking audience. It’s since been talked about in many languages including this popular one, in French.
It’s important to me to personally know and trust the people I collaborate with. To credit each other AND reference source documents so viewers can look beyond the headlines for themselves.
Single source of truth?
No, I don’t claim to be that, and no one should. I am determined however to find the truth, with evidence, and share it for people to assess for themselves. The opposite of NZ’s exPM Jacinda Ardern’s heavy handed control of information during the Covid years. She made this statement to curb ‘misinformation’. Hmm.
Too long has media manipulated the masses. It’s time to invite people to think, rather than tell them what to think. – Penny Marie
I feel so strongly about this, that I became a walking billboard for it. I made these, so you can wear this simple message too! (Or get out there wearing your own designs).
An appeal to mainstream media staff
In the RCR interview I mention how Erica and I met. She saw videos of me speaking, back in September 2022. I attended a ‘March Against The Mainstream Media’ in Auckland New Zealand. I made two short impromptu speeches, here is the second.
We were standing outside TVNZ – our largest state broadcaster. A MSM reporter and photographer had arrived to take photos sneakily but would not speak to any of us who were peacefully protesting. So I approached them, and they jumped in their car looking terrified, and scooted away. Some in the crowd started jeering at them, so I jumped up to the mic and said this…
We the people
Two years on from this event, and it’s clear that MSM isn’t going to be a fair, impartial fourth estate, representing the people. And so, it’s up to us. I started using the tools in my hands. What tools are in your hands, to wade into the battle for our freedoms, if you aren’t already here? Because it’s us. We The People. Like my shirt here says (I designed that too…).

The government has introduced a new bill aimed at addressing foreign interference in its institutions and communities, as outlined in the latest threat assessment by the NZSIS.
The proposed legislation, led by Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith, criminalises covert, corrupt, and coercive activities conducted on behalf of foreign powers to harm New Zealand intentionally or recklessly.
While existing laws cover offenses such as blackmail and cyber misuse, the bill aims to fill gaps in dealing with foreign state actors undermining national interests. It also strengthens penalties for unauthorised disclosure of government information and ensures greater legal clarity for prosecution, with penalties of up to 14 years in prison.
A regulatory impact statement highlighted the need for targeted measures to avoid overcriminalising legitimate activities, particularly in sensitive fields like software development with dual-use applications.
The move comes amidst rising concerns of strategic competition and “grey-zone” activities by foreign states, including explicit mentions of interference from China targeting New Zealand’s Chinese communities.
The government has opted not to include a beneficial ownership register, despite calls for its potential to mitigate risks.
Comparisons have been drawn with Australia’s foreign interference framework, which has faced criticisms and ongoing reforms since its implementation in 2018.
Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington by unanimous decision, leaving an anti-Paul, pro-Tyson crowd divided and disappointed.
Tyson started strong, energising the audience with his signature head-bobbing style, but Paul held his ground, even landing critical shots as the rounds progressed.
Tyson showed his age by the third round, and the fight turned anticlimactic, with fans trickling out before the final decision.
America’s national debt has grown by $2 trillion in less than a year, the latest data show.
America’s national debt has surpassed $36 trillion for the first time in its history, the US Debt Clock – a website monitoring the nation’s finances in real time – reported on Friday.
In total, the US national debt grew by nearly 6% between January and November, increasing by $1 trillion in less than four months. In late July, the US Treasury announced that it had surpassed $35 trillion.
The debt accumulation speed appears to be growing as it amounted to $34 trillion in early January and then grew by $1 trillion in less than six months. The US Treasury has not officially confirmed the new data yet.
In August, the Congressional Budget Office said in its report that it expected the debt to reach a record of over 106% of GDP by 2027 and eventually rise to 122% by 2034.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) painted an even grimmer picture in its US economic outlook report in July. “Under current policies, the general government debt is expected to rise steadily and exceed 140% of GDP by 2032,” it said at that time.
The International Monetary Fund warned in July that “high fiscal deficits and the ongoing increase in the US public debt to GDP ratio pose risks not only for the US but also the global economy” and stressed “the pressing need for a frontloaded fiscal adjustment.”
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, whom President-elect Donald Trump recently tasked with finding ways to boost the government’s efficiency, has warned that the US was at risk of defaulting on its debt.
“The interest on the debt is trending to rapidly absorb all tax revenue, leaving nothing for critical needs,” he wrote on X last month. Еhe Tesla and SpaceX CEO has said that the US could find itself in a situation where “the only thing we’ll be able to pay is interest,” if debt keeps growing at a similar pace.
Conservatives have accused the progressive New York congresswoman of hypocrisy and pretending to embrace woke trends.
Democratic Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, commonly referred to as AOC, has raised eyebrows after she appeared to remove her pronouns from her X account description.
The 35-year-old is widely regarded as being among the leaders of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. She had previously even apologized to her followers for not including her pronouns on her social media accounts. Two years ago, she claimed that the descriptors “fell off” without her realizing it.
However, following Donald Trump’s election victory last week, many have noticed that Ocasio-Cortez no longer had her ‘she/her’ pronouns listed in her X bio description. Others have also noted that she appears to have changed her moniker from the genderless ‘Representative’ to ‘Congresswoman’.
According to journalist Benjamin Ryan, Ocasio-Cortez appears to have changed her descriptions on social media sometime between August 3, 2023, and late May of this year.
Conservative pundits have now accused the progressive Democrat of hypocrisy and only pretending to embrace woke gender trends.
Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, an avid critic of Ocasio-Cortez, has demanded that she explain her decision after “shoving gender lies and insane ideology down people’s throats for years.”
Former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines has also blasted the Democrat, writing on social media that politicians such as Ocasio-Cortez will “pretend they never embraced (or even celebrated) the insanity.” Gaines has been an outspoken critic of trans athletes being included in women’s sports and has repeatedly singled out Ocasio-Cortez for her positions on such issues.
“We’re winning and it’s glorious,” Gaines wrote, as many Trump supporters have hailed the Republican candidate’s election victory as a sign of the end for the era of ‘woke’ pandering.
Conservative commentator Paul Szypula has also suggested that Ocasio-Cortez’s removal of her pronouns from her description was tied to the “massive exodus from the Democrat Party by Hispanic voters,” many of whom have “conservative values and aren’t thrilled with gender ideology.”
Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez, who has yet to respond to the backlash, was re-elected last week to serve a fourth term in Congress.
