Liverpool have advanced to the Carabao Cup final after a draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Liverpool had a 2-1 lead from the first leg and the draw was sufficient to set up a final with Chelsea on February 25.
Liverpool’s took the early lead through Luis Diaz who scored from a pinpoint pass from Jarell Quansah.
Despite a good performance from Fulham they couldn’t score a second goal to take the match to extra time.
Both Liverpool and Fulham are set to play in the FA Cup fourth round. Chelsea reached the Carabao Cup final earlier with a win over Middlesbrough. Liverpool, currently enjoying a strong season with only one domestic loss and leading the Premier League, are eyeing a domestic treble. The Reds have made numerous changes to their starting lineup this season, showcasing their depth.
Diaz’s performance was pivotal, scoring early and having another goal disallowed. Liverpool had multiple opportunities to extend their lead. The match was also notable for Andy Robertson’s return to Liverpool’s squad after injury.
For Fulham, reaching the final of the competition would have been a first. Manager Marco Silva said the team’s inexperience in such high-pressure games was a factor, but saw potential for the future.
